Global Design Guidelines

The development of our client’s global design guidelines involved a strong partnership between Perkins&Will and key stakeholders from enterprise groups. The final guidelines offer general design and performance guidance including architecture, engineering, furniture, and branding elements.
Our team developed and delivered these standards as an interactive tool and checklists to ensure access is easy and implementation is seamless.

Thomson Reuters
Initial Guidelines: 2015

Perkins&Will partnered with Thomson Reuters to create their initial guideline strategy for a workplace that reinforces the company’s culture and vision, and is focused on retaining new technology talent. We were also engaged most recently in 2021 to revise those guidelines and incorporate lessons learned, add more detail on new ways of working and to further support diverse workstyles across their global organization.
Wayfinding, Signage and Brand Integration Standards
Red Hat
Completed: 2020
Red Hat’s brand focuses on their innate nature: Open. Authentic. Helpful. Brave. They worked meticulously to update their virtual, social and print presence, and they looked to Perkins&Will to help with their evolving workplace experiences. With 95+ offices in 35 countries, it was imperative to Red Hat to bring their brand to life and celebrate what makes each office culture unique.
We worked with Red Hat to assemble recommended brand kits and developed a global standards guide to integrate brand, signage, and wayfinding into their cutting-edge technology environments worldwide.

Shure, Incorporated

Perkins&Will has worked with Shure over the last five years on a variety of strategy projects as to help them with data-driven decisions on their regional portfolio approach, detailed programming for their research and development operations and innovative ways to pilot and measure new ways of working.
Most recently, our team engaged their global workforce in a series of virtual focus group with live polling to gather their thoughts on more flexible work options, the future role of the workplace, and the local factors that impact the way they work. This information was used as decision support for their executive team as Shure moves forward with a new policy and new spaces to support their valuable workforce around the globe.

Professional services firms have been at the forefront of new workplace design and we have partnered with them this journey. Their goal has always been to maximize the impact of their real estate investment, adopt new workstyles, and leveraging innovative design and technology to elevate employee and client experiences.
For this firm, we developed a new hoteling approach, workplace standards, and change management approach that has been rolled out to 45+ offices. We’ve captured post-occupancy measurements and applied lessons learned to each new iteration of the design. While many companies will be testing out new mobile work concepts, we have been working with firms like this who already know what the next generation of workplace will look like and continue to look ahead.

United Airlines

Few companies have seen the level of disruption that the airline companies experienced over the last two years. We partnered with United Airlines during this time of change to help them uncover the opportunities and create a clear strategy for their workplace in Chicago. Our services included implementing a mobility approach, workplace standards, space programming, stacking, phasing, and change management.
Our deep engagement with employees through surveys, interviews, and focus groups produced a range of well-vetted workplace scenarios that was defensible, equitable, and viable to meet their business goals and align with United’s Core4 Values.
